- O&M Services | USIPL
O&M Services / What We Do / O&M Services / Sugar Factory Operation Every year during the months of March and October, Sugar cane is sowed. The Farmers later harvest the Cane and transport the cane via tractor trolley and Truck to the Mill whether for the processing of Sugar begins Cane juice is first prepared in fibrous form through a set of Cane cutters and fibrisor. Juice is extracted from a set of 3/4/6 roller milling tandem. Extracted juice mixed with water is sent to the Boiling house for sugar processing This juice is heated and then treated with Milk of lime, Sulphur dioxide or phosphoric acid The treated juice is then further heated and sent to the Clarifier for continuous settling. The clear juice collected from Clarifier is evaporated to a syrup stage bleached by desired chemicals and then sent to vacuum pans for further concentration and Sugar grain formation. Another residue from Clarifier is Press Mud which is being used as Manure in the Cane field by the Farmers The sugar grain is separated from Molasses in Centrifugal machines, Dried, Graded and sent to Storage Bins accordingly graded size where Sugar is weighed, packed and sent to Sugar bag storage house. Bagasse is the Fibrous residue of the Cane stalk that is obtained after cane crushing and Extraction of juice. This is being used as Major fuel for steam generation in boilers. Another achievement and step to work self-reliance by the sugar industry has been reduced to its dependency on the State Electricity Board. The final residue from the Cane is Molasses which is further Fermented and Distilled to manufacture different types of Liquors and Alcohols for blending in petroleum products. Sugar Factory Maintenance Plant maintenance is an important service function of an Efficient Production system. It is usually referring to the methods, strategies and practices used to keep a Sugar factory running effectively In the Sugar factory operation, there are different types of maintenance Practice in standard practices. Off-Season Maintenance (Planned Maintenance) —Every year the Cane crushing season is for 6 to 7 months i.e November to May. From June to October there is a Crop Off-Season and during this the complete plant is Dismantled, Repaired and Assembled. Preventive Maintenance During Season – It is a set of activities that are performed on plant equipment, machinery, and systems before the occurrence of failure in order to protect them Running Maintenance During Season – It includes those maintenance activities that are carried out while the machine or equipment is running. Scheduled/Shutdown Maintenance – This involves the inspection of plant items which are known or suspected to occur. Corrective Maintenance – In this type, actions such as repair, replacement, or restore will be carried out after the occurrence of a failure in order to eliminate the source of this failure or reduce the frequency of its occurrence.
