The Crude Sugar Melt shall be sent to Melt Clarification System for further treatment of Melt using Melt Carbonation Process for Clarification of Melt followed by Filtration.
In this system, Floc is produced by mixing Carbon Dioxide with Milk of Lime to give a Calcium Hydroxide Precipitate. Floc remains in suspension with clear liquor. The Scum is separated from liquor using Pressure Leaf Filters after that Scum is de-sweetened using Plate and Frame Filters. This process gives approximately 50% to 55% colour removal across the system. The clear melt then passes through an Ion Exchange Column unit for the further decolourization up-to 35 ICUMSA.
Concentrated melt shall be stored in storage tank to be used as Sugar Syrup. The system is designed for 66 degree Brix.
